This virtual concert performance celebrated the amazing aesthetic and therapeutic benefits of music and was recorded live at Cadek Hall on the UTC campus. This video contains highlights from the full performance and features performers Mark Reneau, violin, and Dr. Martha Summa-Chadwick, pianist.
As a part of the Power of Music concert event, Martha leads a pre-concert symposium with in-depth dialogue regarding the power of music from a range of diverse viewpoints, with conversation regarding science, therapy, education, enrichment, inclusion and community.
Martha's nonprofit organization, Music Therapy Gateway in Communications (MTGIC) has received a grant from Chattanooga's UNFoundation to create an automated visual color-coded music notation system called Notes2Blocks. The project was designed so that individuals who have therapeutic challenges, intellectual/developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's, or even neurotypical children or adults who are unable to read musical standard notation, are still able to play a song at the keyboard.
