Martha first became involved with computer programming in 1984. At the time, programmers were in great demand and the industry turned to musicians (!) to fill part of the gap since computer programming wasn't available at most colleges as a major. Evidence at the time showed that musicians came in second only to authors of children's stories in having the natural brain structure and ability to analyze which would make them very adept programmers. After
being hired initially at Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford, CT, Martha remained in the field full time for 18 years, and has remained active in the role of webmaster and project leader since then.
